Project Profile
T.F. Green International Airport
Project Overview
TF Green International Airport in Rhode Island recently required a high-performance flooring solution for an exiating 32,000-square-foot aircraft hangar. Designed to accommodate private aviation, the facility needed a flooring system that could withstand heavy point loads, resist harsh chemicals, and ensure a safe working environment. To meet these requirements, a specialized Resinwerks flooring system was specified and installed by a certified Resinwerks Master Installer based in New England. Aircraft hangar flooring is subjected to unique and demanding conditions. The client required a solution that addressed the following key concerns:
- Safety: A non-slip, durable surface to enhance traction and reduce the risk of accidents.
- Chemical and Stain Resistance: Protection against fuel, oil, lubricants, and other aviation-related chemicals.
- Skydrol Resistance: The ability to resist degradation from Skydrol, a common hydraulic fluid used in aviation maintenance.
- Heavy Point Loads: The capacity to support the weight of aircraft, equipment, and maintenance operations without deterioration.

The Solution:

To meet these rigorous demands, Resinwerks engineered a multi-layer epoxy flooring system tailored specifically for the hangar environment. The system included a Deep Penetrating Primer: Designed to ensure superior adhesion and long-term performance. This was followed by a High-Performance Impact-Resistant 100% Solids Epoxy Mid-Coat: Providing durability and strength to withstand heavy traffic and mechanical loads. The system was finished with a Chemical-Resistant Urethane Topcoat: Offering superior resistance to Skydrol, fuel, oils, and other aviation chemicals, while maintaining a clean and professional appearance.
Installation and Results The flooring system was expertly installed by a Resinwerks Master Installer, ensuring precision application and adherence to industry best practices. The final result was a seamless, high-gloss surface that enhances light reflectivity, improves safety, and provides long-term durability for the hangar's operational needs.
